MASTERs Launches A La Carte Grappling Instructional Series
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 16, 2026
2017 US Senior National Judo Champion and up-and-coming Brazilian jiu jitsu brown belt Isadora Friedlander will be the first instructor featured in the new series.
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA — Martial Arts for Social Transformation, Equity, and Rights (MASTERs) is pleased to announce a new instructional series that will include grapplers from across different styles and expertise. The Virginia-based non-profit, which works in connection with High Noon Judo, is known for its modern and evidence-based approach. Often referred to as CLA (constraints led approach) or the ecological method, this method employs an experiential approach. Founder of MASTERs and judo black belt, Dr. Christopher Round is also the program director at High Noon Judo. This new instructional series, with its unconventional set-up, is another step out of the old and into the new from MASTERs.
Traditionally, instructionals are compilations of related moves, sometimes hours-long. Even if a practitioner only wanted to see one detail, they would have to buy the entire collection. In its new instructional series, Martial Arts for Social Transformation, Equity, and Rights is cutting through the fluff. The new instructional series will feature short, multipart instructionals with the option to purchase in pieces. That is, practitioners can pay for the moves that catch their interest and not the ones that do not. Each section or move will have its own price tag, with the option to buy the entire instructional for greater savings and knowledge.
In addition to the new take on sharing knowledge, the team at Martial Arts for Social Transformation, Equity, and Rights is doubling down on their commitment to promoting equality in martial arts. As represented by the MASTERs Fellows, the team is committed to championing female athletes, coaches, and instructors. The upcoming instructional series will feature numerous elite female athletes. The non-profit is proud to provide a platform to those who have been historically devalued in the martial arts space.
This series is additionally buoyed by MASTERs’s relationship with BJJ Mental Models. A phenomenal resource by anyone in the grappling community, they have extended their support to MASTERs and some of its fellows. Listen to programme director and founder, Dr. Christopher Round, on the BJJ Mental Models podcast.
All proceeds from purchasing these instructionals go towards supporting the work of MASTERs and the athletes who make it great.
The first of these new, a la carte instructionals is scheduled to drop in January of 2026. This instructional will be taught by decorated judo black belt and up-and-coming Brazilian jiu jitsu brown belt Isadora Friedlander. A US National Champion in judo and a BJJ competitor at the famed Unity Jiu Jitsu School in New York City, the team at MASTERs are certain that this exciting instructional will be an auspicious way to start the year.
