Maia Matalon Wins East Coast ADCC Trials in Orlando
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 17, 2025
Orlando, Florida — Martial Arts for Social Transformation, Equity, and Rights would like to congratulate our partners at High Noon BJJ and Fitness LLC and announce that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete and coach Maia Matalon won the East Coast ADCC Trials held yesterday in Orlando. The ADCC Trials are known for being one of the most competitive submission grappling events in North America, and Maia’s performance demonstrated a complete command of every phase of competition.
Maia opened her campaign with back-to-back submission victories in her first two matches. She advanced to the semifinals, where she defeated the top seed in a disciplined tactical performance that showcased her wealth of experience and technical depth. She then secured the championship with a decisive heel hook in the final. The run to the title reflected both her technical precision and her ability to impose her game under the highest level of competitive stress. She will now compete at the ADCC World Championships in 2026 in Poland.
Maia serves as one of the lead coaches at High Noon BJJ and Fitness where she helps guide the academy’s technical direction and athlete development. She also works closely with several athletes in the MASTERs Fellows program including national standout Chloe Williams. Maia incorporated a focused judo training phase into her Trials camp with Dr. Christopher Round. He served as her judo coach during this period and she credited that work as a crucial element in her preparation. The training emphasized entries, transitional throws, and grip structures that helped her control the early phases of each exchange.
This victory also reflects the strength of Maia’s support system. She continues to train daily with her partner and coach Tim Dawson whose leadership and structure provide the foundation for her continued growth. Her roots in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also remain tied to the guidance she received over many years from Ryan Hall and Jen Hall. Their influence helped build the technical base that continues to inform her development even as her competitive path evolves. She continues to work with Asim Fayyaz at Nova Barbell Club.
Maia’s win positions her as one of the leading American contenders for the upcoming ADCC World Championships. It also reflects the broader strength of the partnership between High Noon BJJ and Fitness and MASTERs, where coaches and athletes collaborate across disciplines with a shared commitment to long-term development, technical excellence, and whole-of-athlete support.
